"Those foolish separatists think that by blowing up the bridge to Mannett Point they're striking a blow for the people, but all they've created is division. He didn't care about the Separatists, but a lot of good people got stuck at Mannett Point when the bridge collapsed. Among those stuck there was a doctor named Jaen Kett | Jaen Kett(Human)CharacterMinor Characters (TOR) | . A brilliant medic and a staunch supporter of the Republic, who was essential to Republic effort. Xorem asked the operatives to find the Doctor and bring him back to Fort Garnik. Meteor agreed to help, saying that it was his duty, Voidhound also agreed, but only after Xorem confirmed that the smuggler would be paid for the job.The operatives headed for the island, killing a dozen separatists who were patrolling the road from Fort Garnik to Mannett Point. They swam across the canal and infiltrated the depot, fighting the Separatists along the way. The operatives searched the depot and found Dr. Kett, who was hiding inside the medical center along with at least twenty children. When they said they were sent by Xorem, who wanted the Doctor to return to Fort Garnik, Kett refused, saying that he needed to be here and could not leave the children who were orphans and whose parents were killed during the separatist takeover of the island. The operatives offered to take the children with them, but Kett again refused, as he was sure that the children would not be able to swim across the canal. He said he would go only if the Republic sent some supplies for the children and boats to evacuate them across the canal. The operatives agreed to relay his request to Lieutenant Xorem, and Kett gave them a list of what was needed for a successful evacuation.Upon returning to Fort Garnik, the operatives relayed Kett's request to Xorem and convinced him that the Republic should assist with the evacuation. Xorem thanked them and wished them luck, paid the Voidhound as agreed and proceeded to prepare for the evacuation. |
